A. N. Myer had approximately 190 students enrolled in the co-operative education program this year! The program allows students to earn two credits or more towards their secondary school diploma. Two credits may also be used towards the mandatory 18 credits that a student must earn out of the 30 credit program in Ontario. We’ve had students that have earned four credits in one semester, spending the entire semester with their placement. Students were placed in areas that covered the automotive sector, construction, dental, hair salons, homes for the aged, music studios, physical therapy, fitness, law and computers to name just a few! We’ve also register ten students in the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program too. OYAP for short. In Grade 11, students can enroll in a co-operative education program along with the OYAP program that will enable completion of the high school diploma while earning hours towards an apprenticeship. The student is able to accumulate the co-op hours towards their apprenticeship if they decide to continue after high school in the apprenticeship trade. There are over 100 regulated trades in Ontario covering the Construction, Industrial, Motive Power and the Service sectors.
